Briefs on "Energy Week" at the Department of Energy

“Energy Week” as labeled by President Trump’s administration, took place during the last week of June 2017.

 

Six new administrative initiatives were announced, including the approval of the construction of a new petroleum pipeline to Mexico and an agreement to begin negotiations for the sale of more American gas to South Korea.

Here is a short brief on the energy initiatives announced during the speech of President Donald Trump.

 

Energy Independence

The administration’s central goal will be to export American energy resources to other countries.

New petroleum pipeline to Mexico

The president mentioned a new pipeline to Mexico and promised to open up more offshore waters to oil and gas development.

Louisiana LNG facility

The approval by the DOE of additional 0.33 Bcf/day of exports from LNG facility (previously authorized to export 2Bcf/day.)

International energy market

President Trump called the treasury to review the barriers to U.S financing coals overseas and mentioned Ukraine as one of many countries in need of “millions and millions of metric tons (of coal)” right now.

Domestic energy market

President Trump announced that the Department of Energy will begin a review of U.S nuclear policies with the goal of expanding the sector “which produces clean, renewable and emissions-free energy.”
