NYC Celebrates Demand Response Earnings of More Than $13.5 Million with NuEnergen

DCAS DR Award Ceremony_30NEW YORK CITY -- On May 16, 2019, The NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) celebrated the top-contributing agencies to NYC’s demand response programs. Under these programs as managed by NuEnergen, buildings reduce their energy usage during periods of peak demand. DCAS manages the utility accounts for all City government agencies and the City of New York is the single largest participant in the Demand Response programs. Stand-out Agency participation included the Department of Education, New York Public Library, American Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Public Library and many more.


NuEnergen later presented DCAS with a ceremonial check totaling more than $13.5 million for their 2018 participation in Demand Response programs. NuEnergen also revealed the City of New York will be enrolled in more than 100MW for the 2019 summer season, a major milestone achieved by all levels of participants from Agency leaders to Facility Operations personnel. NuEnergen Director of Field Operations, Anton Nicaj congratulated NYC agencies stating, “this 100+ MW enrollment achievement really underscores the amount of work and collaboration that a well-run demand response/Real-time meter program requires.”


DCAS Energy Management Program Manager, Leonid Zolotarev proudly stated that “City government operations are able to contribute over 110 MW of load relief to keep the city’s grid reliable”.
