On April 11, 2018, The NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) received a check for over $10 million due to its enrollment in our Demand Response program with NYISO and Con Edison. DCAS manages the utility accounts for all City government agencies and the City of New York is the single largest participant in the Demand Response programs.
"Over the past several years, the City of New York has made tremendous progress with respect to demand response program implementation...the likes of which no other city in America has matched. NuEnergen is proud to serve the City of New York as we work together in continuing to build upon past successes," said Kevin Hamilton, President and CEO of NuEnergen, LLC.
Under this program with NuEnergen, buildings reduce their energy usage during periods of peak demand. Representatives from various City Agencies were on hand to receive updates on the Demand Response program, awards for participation and recognition from the DCAS upper management. The $10 million payment spans the summer of 2017 and includes 25 City agencies that were participating last year.
“The Demand Response program is a common-sense way to reduce energy use, prevent brownouts and blackouts, and save taxpayer dollars,” said Lisette Camilo, Commissioner of the NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services. “You can’t have the City that doesn’t sleep if you have a City that doesn’t have power.”
